1.1 Presentation

NGO-Openbook is a transparency website created by ACODEV and ngo-federatie. It consists of a back-end database, which is filled in by the members of the federations, and a front-end visualisation of the data. The website contains the basic operational and financial data of the sector of CSO’s of development cooperation (both recognized or not), which are members of one or both of the federations. The first version of the database, called Xbank, was launched in 2009 and totally renewed in 2017, creating a second version of the database.

As of the summer of 2025, a new version of both the database and the frontend visualisation (now integrated in one comprehensive tool instead of two different websites) is set in place to improve usability and accessibility. The amount of data requested in the database has been drastically reduced and some fields are now pre-filled through a new partnership with the Social Profit Data Trust (SPDT) of the King Baudouin Foundation.
